About Sandveld Nature Reserve

Sandveld Nature Reserve is situated in the Free State on the banks of Bloemhof Dam on the Vaal River. The dam is well known for its abundant variety of bird life, which includes the Cape teal, Cape shoveller and fish eagle, amongst many more.

The reserve is also home to a large variety of wildlife such as the antelope, springbok, kudu, gemsbok, buffalo, blue wildebeest and eland. There is a selection of water sports activities to enjoy, including fishing, water skiing, boardsailing and paragliding.
